Use your Catalogue for Inspiration!

Lately i have been using my 2009-2010 Ideas Book and Catalogue for inspiration. There are many ways the book inspires me. Colour schemes that i might not have thought of, layouts that i can use on other cards or just plane old CASEing.
I have the fantastic Flight of the Butterfly set and so when looking through the catalogue i decided to case this card.
I then wanted to make another card using the same layout and i thought that the All in the Family Set would work really well in the centre of the circle. I also thought that it would make a perfect little girl's card for a very special girl who was turning 3 this weekend. The little girls mum loves purple and i wanted to use that on the card, so i used my colour wheel for a bit of guidance. It told me to use Pixie Pink, Orchid Opulence and Certainly Celery together. This is what i came up with.

I have used a few stamp sets in this card - All in the Family, Family Favourites and Family Favourites II, All Scallops and Wonderful Favourites. I have also used Sweet Sticky Cuts with the Celery Fine Supernova Glitter and the Scallop Edge Punch.
Now an hour or so after taking this photo i asked my son to write on the inside of the card for his special friend Chloe and after he drew a big T for Tyson, i thought i would just go and put my shoes on and when i came back he had coloured in the front of the card as well! It took all of my might to tell him how pretty it was..... at least he coloured it in with a Certainly Celery Stampin' Wrte Marker to match. I hope that Chloe liked it anyway! Happy 3rd Birthday sweet girl.

Hoppy Memories Scrapbooking Layout

One of the first things i loved in the new catalogue was the look of the Hoppy Memories Simply Scrappin' kit. It was on my wish list from the very beginning and a couple of weeks ago i bought one.
I had these pictures of Tyson playing on a water slide mat he got for christmas last year and the bright colours of the mat fitted in perfectly with the Hoppy Memories kit. This page came together really quickly and i was so happy with it. I realy like the way the Simply Scrappin kits make things so easy for you.

We will be having a HUGE special on all of the Simply Scrappin Kits at our Christmas In July workshop. You will never see a repeated offer this good and you can only get it by attending on the night. And this will only be ONE of the great special we are offering. Only limited places available.

Eastern Blooms Emerging Colour

This is my first try at the emerging colour technique and the first time i have gotten to use my brayer since i bought it.
I have used some Bella Rose Designer Series paper and then embossed clear eastern blooms stamped images on it. I have then brayered choc chip onto the background which leaves the embossed images untouched and allows the background colour to "emerge"! Hence the technique name Emerging colour.
The stamped greeting is one of my favourite stamps from the On Your Birthday stamp set. You can use this on the inside of your card for a greeting as well. The kiwi kiss cardstock and satin ribbon brings a bit of colour to the card. Did you know that the satin ribbon is double sided with kiwi kiss on one side and very vanilla on the other. It is just gorgeous and the dual colour gives a nice effect by simply tying a knot or a bow.
Hope you liked the card!

Now if you havent got your name down for the Christmas in July but want to come, get in quick. We have had a huge response and there are limited spaces left. Email me at Christies_stamps@yahoo.com.au to reserve your spot

Trendy Trees

Trend Trees is a set that the lucky demonstrators who were able to go to convention recieved as part of their convention package. The set was never on my 'want' list, but as things go once i started seeing some of the stuff made with it my first impressions quickly changed. This card is actually one of the make and takes from convention. Merryl let me borrow her set so that i could case it. I really like Double Striped Grosgrain Ribbon that comes in all of our in colours! I really need to work on my photography skills though because i have been noticing that the cards i have been uploading look soooo much better in real life than the photos i have been uploading here.

This card fits in with our stamp club theme at the moment which is male cards. I think this set can be pretty versatile and you could use for both male and female cards, birthdays, thinking of you, thanks and sympathy cards. What do you think?

Stay Tuned to this spot as next week i will have a very important announcement for our Christmas In July Extravaganza.

Pick A Petal Chalkboard

This is a card i made to demonstrate the chalkboard technique at a recent workshop. It uses one of the most versatile sets in the catalogue Pick A Petal (you can use it for flowers, ladybugs, candles, surfboards, trees, butterflies and more!).
I also used a greeting from the Flight of the Butterfly set. I stamped the Pick a Petal petals with Whisper White Kraft ink and then used the Stampin' Pastels to chalk the image. I have punched out the centre of the flower with the 1" circle punch (i just love the way Stampin' Up! stamps co ordinate with their punches!) and popped it up on dimensionals. I have used one of the large Designer Flower Brads to add a bit of bling to the card. A simple card yet quite effective.

Do you want to know more about the chalkboard technique? I could demonstrate it at your next workshop or i could bring a chalking class to you where you and a few friends could make cards using the chalkboard technique as well as other techniques using the Stampin' pastels.

Build A Roo Birthday

Here is a card using the Build A Roo set. This set is exclusive to Australia at the moment and i thought it was appropriate to make a card for my best friends baby girl Addie who turned 1 last week. Happy Birthday sweet girl!

I have used some of my favourite colours Chocolate Chip, Rose Red and Elegant Eggplant as cardstock with Rose Red Double Stitched Ribbon. I have stamped the Roo in Staz On Black ink on watercolour paper and coloured it in with Stampin' Up! Watercolour pencils.

I stamped the greeting on Very vanilla cardstock and then punched it out using the Word Window punch. I love punching out greetings. It is a great way to ensure that your greetings are never crooked.

Speaking of Birthdays in my newsletter i announced a Birthday Club for all of my customers. So if you are one of my customers and havent sent me your birthday yet, be sure to do so and i will send you a card on your next birthday.

Desk Top Pictures

I went back to work recently and i wanted to take in a picture of my kids to sit on my desk. I didnt have any pictures of them together that i thought were suitable so i decided to make these cute little desk top picture holders. This is the one i made of Tyson and i made a nice pink one with flowers for Alyssa's photo. They were so quick and easy and i have had lots of people comment on them. Thanks to Dawn Raspas for the original design.

I just love the new In Colour Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. The Pacific Point is such vibrant colour. Don't forget for those of you that recieve my newsletter, you can get some In Colour Ribbon in the colour sampler packs i am offering this month. Check your newsletter for details.

Recipe Book

My fantastic upline Merryl held a fantastic class a couple of weeks ago that i just HAD to attend. It was a Recipe Book class. I thought that the Recipe Book would make a perfect keepsake for me to write all of our family favourite recipes in and give to my daughter Alyssa when she is older. The recipe for the Mars Bar cupcakes and the Berry and Yoghurt Muffins are already penciled to go in!

I was wrapt with the way it turned out. Thank you so much Merryl. I can see a few more of these being made as they really are a wonderful gift.

The stamp sets we used for the recipe book is called From the Kitchen Of and is new in this years catalogue. I used the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper and the In Colours Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red on the book

Sweet Sticky Cuts

Sweet Sticky cuts are a new toy of mine that i have been playing with! They are die cut adhesive sheets and i love how they really bling up whatever project you use them on.

Here i have made a card with the Sweet Sticky Cuts and Fine Supernova Glitter. Once i put the glitter on the card i burnish it into the adhesive with paper and my Stampin' Up! Bone Folder. I have used Pocket Silhouettes in the background of this card stamped in Baja Breeze (which is also the base card) on Whisper White cardstock and mounted on Kiwi Kiss cardstock.
I have used the sentiment from Pocket Silhouettes and punched it out using the Word Window punch. I have then mounted that on a peice of Baja Breeze cardstock punched with the Large Oval punch.

Next on my wishlist is the Sticky Cut numbers and letters and the Chunky Glitter. I can't wait to have a play with them!

Designer Series paper Make and Take

Here is another make and take that i made at a workshop in June.

This one uses Bella Rose Designer Series Paper (cut with 1 1/4" square punch) and mounted on 1 3/8" squares punched from Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I then used the distressing tool on the Crafters Tool Kit to distress the Red Riding Hood cardstock.

The base cardstock is Pink Pirouette which has been stamped with the background stamp En Francais in Versamark and the edges were sponged with Red Riding Hood ink. The card was finished off with some Red Riding Hood Tafetta Ribbon and a greeting from the Hostess Set Best Yet.

It was actually quite an easy make and take and i hope all the workshop attendees liked it!

Want to earn $110 to spend in the catalogue?

It's easy in June and July with Stampin' Up!'s latest promotion.

Hold a workshop (or a catalogue party) in June or July and if you reach $600 in sales then you earn an extra $40 in free product. So for a $600 workshop you will get to choose a Level 1 OR a Level 2 hostess set plus get $110 to spend in the catalogue. How great is that?

I do still have a few vacancies left for June and July so email me to reserve your workshop date today!

Flower Fancy Make and Take

This is a quick and easy make and take i did last weekend. It uses the Flower Fancy set. I went back to an old favourite colour scheme of Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant with Very Vanilla.

I used my Stamp-A-Majig (a must have tool!) for the two-stap stampin'. And instead of using ink i used my Stampin' Write markers to colour in the flower. This allowed my to put the darker Elegant Eggplant around the Lovely Lilac inner of the flower.

The sentiment has been punched out with the Large Oval punch and layered onto the Designer Label punch with Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon beneath.

If you like this make and take or any others i have made then why not book a workshop and we can make some of these cards with your friends. Email me at Christies_stamps@yahoo.com.au to make a date now.
