Male Cards by Suzy

Here are some really great male cards made by my downline Suzy Gates. Most people struggle with making cards for the males in our lives but there are some really great ideas out there and with Fathers Day fast approaching i thought i would share some ideas with you.

These cards are made with the stamp sets Boatloads of Love and Uncharted Territory. I find that sea and boat themed cards always go well for the males in my life as they all love boats and the water.

5th Avenue Floral Birthday Card

More bithdays!!! Today is my birthday and i can't show you a card i made for myself so i thought i would show you a card i made for my lovely friend Alison a couple of weeks ago, she really liked it.

I embossed the large flower from 5th Avenue Floral on glossy cardstock with clear embossing powder. I then used a Stampin' Sponge (i love those things) to add some Regal Rose ink to the flower.
The base cardstock is Regal Rose layered with Whisper White which i have punched with the Eyelet Border Punch, and Rose Red cardstock. Regal Rose 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon and some large pearls from the Pretties Kit have finished off the card. The sentiment was from the Short and Sweet stamp set and was stamped with Whisper White ink.

Boatloads of Love Fathers Day

This is a card i made on the weekend away for a colour challenge. The colours used are Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand. Not colours i would usually think of to put together. but i think they look great when you do. So making the most of my time i thought i would do the colour challenge and make a fathers day card for my dad.
The stamp set used is Boatloads of Love and the greeting is from Occassiosnal Greetings which is great because it covers every greeting you can think of - Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Christmas, Easter, Birthday, Thank you, Weddings and more.
I have also used the Sanded Background stamp which has been added to my wishlist because it is just so versatile.

Baby Shoe

This is a cute little shoe i made for Alyssa's swimming teacher who is having a baby girl. Isn't it cute?
I printed the pattern from here on Pretty In Pink card stock and i cut it out. Then rolled the So Swirly wheel all over it with Pretty In Pink Ink. I glued it together with the Tombow adhesive which i use for all of my 3D projects as i find it is THE BEST to make sure it all stays together. I then tied a bow on the front with Whisper White Grosgrain ribbon (and yes i did trim it before i gave it to her, just not before i took the photo) with a little dummy i had saved from some baby gift wrapping i had when Alyssa was born. I have attached a Pink Rhinestone Fire Circle Brad as the clip. I think it is a gorgeous little gift and the teacher loved it! I will show you the card i made her at a later date too!

Thanks Tanya

This week i recieved Some 'happy mail'.
This is mail that is unexpected and brightens your day. It is what people feel when they recieve a lovely handmade card from you that they weren't expecting!
I recieved this lovely card made from the Fresh Cut Notes and co ordinating Fresh Cuts stamp set. It was stamped with Baja Breeze ink and embellished with coordinating Baj Breeze Double Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. I just love this colour!
I also recieved this lovely embellished box. Do you want to see what was in inside? Some ymmy Lindt chocolate and 2 handmade cards.

Why did i recieve such a special gift? Well i took part in a Demonstrator cyberstamp and i won a prize for my entry. The cyberstamp was organised by fellow demonstrator Tanya Kitto, a lovely lady with lots of energy and a passion for stamping! Just one of the fantastic things about being a demonstrator is that you get to share your craft and participate in events such as these. Ever think of joining????

Well i am going to think of something really nice to send Tanya for all of her hard work and for my surprise "happy mail". Why don't you send someone a card to let you know that you have been thinking of them? I'm sure it will brighten their day.

A Rose is a Rose

Isn't this stamp set a beautiful one? I borrowed this stamp set from Suzy about a month ago and at the time i didnt have time to make any cards with it so i stamped the on some paper for future use. This card popped into my head when i was making my husbands birthday card last week, so i made it.
It was really quick with just some Designer Series Paper and Ribbon behind it.
I have also used the Scalloped Oval Punch inside the Wide Oval Punch for the greeting. I wasn't sure if this would work but i quite like the look of it. What do you think? I think the Scalloped Oval Punch is one of my favourites from the new mini catalogue. They will only be available till the 30th November so remember to order one!

The Birthday Train Rolls On.....

Here is another card i made last week. This time for my wonderful husbands birthday. And wonderful he is, because he is the one who encouraged me to go on this stamping journey which i love and with all the stuff i do, he doesnt complain one bit. Although getting a new craft room in our new house was a must for him so he didnt have to see it everywhere.

This card was made using Night of Navy and Pacific Point cardstock and ink. I used the Jumbo Stars Wheel in the background which is so easy to do that i am going to do it with a bunch of playgroup kids for fathers day. I have then stamped he Rocket Ship from the Pun Fun stamp set in Staz on Black ink and coloured it in Pacific Point and Riding Hood Red Ink using Blender Pens.
I have used the Large Star and the Star Punches to punch the stars in Pacific Point, Night of Navy and Riding Hood Red cardstock which i have popped up on Dimensionals.

I thought that i would add to the 'space' theme with some Heat and Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on the stars. The greeting is from the On Your Birthday set which is sure getting a workout this month! I placed a Large Star behind it and popped it up on Dimensionals. Hubby liked it and i hope you do too.

Just Dazzling!

I had to make a 30th birthday card on the weekend. So at 5:30am on sunday morning i got up and made this card. Alyssa had woken me at 5am and i wasnt going back to sleep so i thought why not make good use of the time!!!!! (And here i am at the end of the week feeling like i have been hit by a truck but there were 6 birthdays this week).

The base of the card is Elegant Eggplant with Pale Plum on top. This card uses two old favourite stamp sets Baroque Motifs and Short and Sweet which really are the two most versatile sets in the whole catalogue. I have added Heat and Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds to the Baroque swirl. I have used all of the pretty things in the catalogue, i sometimes fall into the habit of keeping all of these nice things for special occassions and i thought "well a 30th birthday is pretty special" so i went to town.
I had seen this basic layout with the baroque swirl and flowers on a single layer card in a cardmaking magazine from last year. The flowers are from the Pretties Kit and i have died the bottom flower using the Perfect Plum reinker. It was really easy to do. I have then added some Whisper White Tafetta Ribbon to the card and used Crystal Effects to stick on the Dazzling Diamonds to the flower petals and jazzed it up even more with a Purple Rhinestone Brad from the Ice Rhinestone Circle Brads.
I stamped the greeting on Pale Plum cardstock and then punched it out using the Large Oval Punch. Now i could have stamped straight on to the cardstock but then it may not have been straight and you all know i love straight greetings. The Large Oval punch fits perfectly inside this peice of hodgepodge from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge. I have then used smaller purple Rhinestone Brads to secure it.

I think i will replicate this card for my cousins wedding that i am going to next month. I know Allison liked it and i hope she had a lovely birthday.

If you like the Pretties Kit why not participate in a Pretties Kit Share.

You will get a 5th of a kit for $12.40 (inc P&H) which includes:

My Boy Turns 3... Happy Birthday Tyson!

Today my little boy turns 3. Hopefully the weather is fine and we can visit Fairfield City Farm.
Wow time just flies by when you have kids doesn't it?

This is a card that all of the lovely ladies who attended my launch last friday night got to make. It is using the new Choo Choo set and matching wheel from the new Spring Mini Catalogue. It uses Whisper White Card Stock with the In Colours Riding Hood Red and Pacific Point. I have used both the large and small tag punches and some Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. Both greetings are from the It's Your Birthday set.

The inspiration for this card came from stepped up version (yes i did it back to front) and that is the card i made for Tyson's birthday. It is the same card but i have used the Sticky Cut Numbers and the Chunky Glitter to make the number 3. I was really happy with how it turned out.

Hapy Birthday Tyson!

Flight of the Butterfly Birthday

Today is my neice Nicola's Birthday. She has such a sweet heart and loves papercrafting.

I wanted to make a pretty card using Flight of the Butterfly for her special day. I don't yet know which one i am going to give her. They are slightly different... can you tell how?

Going back a fair while ago i used this combination in a Garden Whimsy card. It is still so pretty Pink Pirrouette, Regal Rose and Baja Breeze.

Pure Bliss - My Weekend Offerings

Take a look at all of this. This is what i got to make on my weekend away. There were 23 Card In A Boxes (each team member designed a card and everyone else got to make one - well i made 12 and swapped 11). The rest is what i chose to make myself. I participated in a couple of colour challenges and sketch challenges. It was so much fun... no cooking, no cleaning and NO INTERUPTIONS!!!

There was a stamp library too so i got to use many sets that i don't actually own, the inspiration and creativity was thick in the air. I even took part in an Archery lesson. And the ladies on my table were loads of fun.

And we are doing it all again next year. If you want to join in the fun why not thing about becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. You can email me for a free information package. I guarantee you, you won't look back and the best thing is there is no catches!

I will be showing you some of my favourite things on friday.

Faking it with Sweet Stems

This is the card we made at my stamp club in July to teach the technique of Faux Silk and Faux Bleaching. I love the colour combination of Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Rose Red and Whisper White. We have used the Sweet Stems set which along ith Pocket Silhouettes must be one of my favourite little sets in the catalogue. You can just do so much with them.

I have also used the Scallop , 1 1/4" and 1" circle punches to create the element on the right hand side. The sentiment is from the Fresh Cuts stamp set and above it i have tied some Whisper White Tafetta Ribbon. I have used Staz On Black ink on the Faux Silk section of the card and have colourd the flowers in with Rose Red and Old Olive Stampin' Write markers. The Faux Bleaching is done with the Whisper White Craft ink. I have also used one of the Old Olive Felt Flowers and Rhinestone Brads to embellish the corner of the card.

I am super busy preparing for the mini catalogue launch on friday night(not to mention selling my house!) . So if you havent RSVPd yet, you must do so by wednesday so i can have enough supplies for you!
